While searching for videos by This BLU, the equally talented MC from Los Angeles, I came across this video by artist BLU. He creates animations by painting and repainting public wall murals. Knowing how long this process takes in photography light effects, this makes take a tremendous amount of time to create. And it’s simply AMAZING!!!

Is Jack Splash the genre defining heir to Prince’s throne?

Is Jack Splash the genre defining heir to Prince’s throne?

The producer extraordinaire who has produced some of the most electro filled funk and soul records for Alicia Keys, Cee-Lo, Missy Elliott, Jazmine Sullivan, R-Kelly and T-Pain, is working his way up to a debut solo album.Taking a departure from his band Plantlife who released their last album in  Time Traveller in 2008, his solo album will focus on Splash on vocals.

The album is to be released on J Records, who have taken an interest in Jack Splash’s sound after recording with labelmate Alicia Keys.  Some of the most creative minds in the music industry have spoke highly of Splash’s sound.  R-Kelly calls him “the future of music”, Mos Def says he’s the next generation of funk and Missy Elliott says he’s the next Prince.

Regardless of the comparisons, the music speaks for itself. The following track is a new song featuring Kelis called “In The Future”,  off of a series of mixtapes leading up to the full length album “Technology and Love Might Save Us All…”

Caster Semenya: World Champion Runner Forced to Take Gender Test

Caster Semenya: World Champion Runner Forced to Take Gender Test

The 18 year old middle distance runner from South Africa has been the cause of much debate these days as she continues to break records. Her most recent gold medal coming from the women’s 800-meter race at the World Championships in Berlin. With a winning time of 1:55.45 she left her closest competitor behind in second place by 2.45 seconds. Her performances along with questions raised by competitors and others alike have caused the governing body to give her a gender verification test.

The International Association of Athletics Foundation (IAFF) has demanded Semenya to take a gender test to be certain that she is to compete as a woman. The test has been met with a great deal of uproar by many who are appalled and critical of the way the IAFF handled the situation. Olympic gold medalist Michael Johnson has expressed his opinion and displeasure about the manner in which IAFF handled the confidentiality of the situation. Leonard Cheane, the president of Athletics South Africa (ASA) has even resigned from his seat on the board of IAFF in protest of their treatment of Semenya. The comprehensive tests are ongoing and results may not surface for several weeks. The test is a detailed analysis of testosterone levels.

Despite the controversy, Semenya has been welcomed with open arms in her hometown after winning. In her hometown of Limpopo, she is an inspiration to many young girls who watched her rise from the rural area.
